We did research as a group into different real media products to gain some idea's on what to include in our music video.
Music video's that we looked at were
Eminem- loose yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO2wA0Te0wM
Although this video is mainly narrative based and we decided to focus on performance base, in our music video, their was a few shots in the video that we thought we could use in ours. This scene where Eminem is hitting the camera, we thought would be effective to use in our video, as it's expressing the artist feelings, and the scene wasn't seen in many hip-hop videos.
Eminem- When i'm gone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wYNFfgrXTI
We decided to use this scene in our music video. The scene where Eminem is writing some of he's lyrics on the paper. We thought this could be effective as it reinforces the way the artist is feeling, and the audience maybe be able to recognise typical codes that relate to our music genre.
Devlin- brainwashed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRob2t2PPek&feature=channel
We thought this shot would be effective of a meduim close-up of the artist performing in front of a camera. It is effective because minimal prop is used so it would be easy to replicate in our video. It also shows the audience a little of how the scene was shot, and could represent to our target audience that anyone with talent in the music industry, in Britain could also produce their own music.
Jordin sparks- one step at a time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIE5QtkxzvM
The beginning of the music video starts of with a close-up shot of Jordin feet, and as she's walking to the beat of the music, the camera is tracking her movement. We thought this would be effective as it wasn't seen in many hip-hop video's, and we could use a spotlight on our artist.
Lowkey- something wonderful
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_2hJfhwro
We liked the use of graffiti background in this music video, and from our research into the hip-hop culture, we thought it would be effective to incorporate this into our music video as well. It also follows the mainstream ideology of hip-hop music video and make' it easier for our audience to recognise what genre of music our video is and to identify with the artist and lyrics better.
RKZ- Defeat me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_HSkEFHgtE
We liked the use of the graphic effects, and lighting used in this shot. We thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this into our music video, as it could help put across the artist points in he's lyrics and helps emphasis he's feelings.. We could have images that related to the lyrics be projected at the background.of the artist whilst he's singing. We could use different level's and colour of lighting to achieve this effect in our music video.
