background information to hip-hop and the videos

In order for our music video to attract our target audience and others i thought it would be necessary if i did some background research on the genre hip-hop as a whole to understand the background of the music video's and to give us ideas.

Hip-Hop is a culture that has dominated youth culture which they consider as a art. This new type of music had originated from the urban communities in the heart of New York City during the 1970s. The main element of this type of music is rapping which is also known as MCing. The relationship between graffiti and hip-hop culture arises from the appearance of new and increasingly elaborate and pervasive forms of the practice in areas where other elements of hip hop were evolving as art forms, with a heavy overlap between those who wrote graffiti and those who practiced other elements of the culture.

With the information I researched I thought it was helpful because hip-hop lyrics are usually spoken word poetry matching the beat of the song and our lyrics the audience can relate to. The lyrics on our artist song talk about the issues of racism and the ignorance of people towards Muslim people and associating them with terrorist. 

‘That was alphabetic slaughter the melody’s so goody goody’s compared to Pakistani law enforces
and all you people do is talk about terrorist threats, give me a break man you ain’t seen terrorist yet.’

With the lyrics I thought it would be a good idea to make up a PowerPoint of different slides to use as a background in our music video, to emphasise the lyrics and get the artist word across to he’s audience. This  would be effective in connecting with the audience through the music video and allowing the audience to see the artist thoughts and feelings expressed in a different way.
