We first assigned roles to each member of the group Estella (me): editor Ariba: director Warsan: Production manager Nora: co-director/ camera
In our group we first discussed what type of genre of music we want to base our music video on.
We all tried to find artist and decide between us which one we like best, and would want to use.
We decided on our genre would be based on hip-hop as it would be easier to create a video for that type of music, and when asking a lot of people around college what genre of music they are into, a majority of them said hip-hop and RNB. I will research on what my artist aspirations and goals for the future in trying to develop their music career.
Following up our own previous research in college on our target market, I will do further research into what type of target audience their music will appeal to and what they expect to see in it. In order for our product to be successful. where going to have to think of these points as a group.
As a group we can think of ideas to do for our music video to relate to the song and appeal to our target audience.
We need to assign roles in my group on who's going to be producer, director, cinematographer and editor.
One artist we looked into were a rnb group called snr. We heard of them through our peers at school that had suggested that they were good. We researched about them on their YouTube page with their song called ‘Heart on my Sleeve’. They also had a Facebook page that we went on to further learn more about them. We soon realised that they had a lot of publicity and could be very marketable since their page had around 1,000 hits. However, when we spoke to their manager and to the artists themselves, they explained to us that travelling to the proposed locations and schedules arranged would be interfering with their earlier plans. Due to their unavailability because of their other commitments, we realised we were unable to use them.

We came across a website the had unsigned artist on it, We browsed through a few and listened to their music and researched how many hits they have had. We came across a girl called Sylivia, who's songs sounded good, even though they weren't her original songs. However she did not have many hits from other viewers and her style of music wasn't very conventional and it may have been harder for us to produce a music video for her style of music. She may not also appeal to a mass market, and it would be hard to find a record label that would sign to her.

The person we have decided to go for is called crucial he producers and writes his own music. He is a young talented student who has a passion for music since he was little. He has performed in various venues; such as Brent town hall and aspires to become an establish artist in the UK, then move to America to continue and better he’s music career. He has videos on YouTube which have received more than 4000 views on each original song. I also posted one of he’s songs on facebook as our target audience was age 13-19 and I knew that most teenager’s these days use social networking site’s, and it was a best way to reach a wide range of audience. The song post on facebook received 1000 views and 245 comments, and a majority of the comments received were positive, and that’s when we all knew it would be a good idea to create a music video for him, because he was a popular unsigned artist who was armed with a new hip-hop sound. It benefited us as it was for our media project and in turn it can benefit him to advance he’s hip-hop career. He’s songs were unique and have attracted a large amount of audience with positive feedback. He is a very talented passionate person as he also creates he own lyrics which relate to the teenager’s of today, and embark on important issues in today society. Trying to make it in the UK music industry these days is hard as there are many hip-hop artists out there and you need the right record labels with good international links and globalisation to market and distribute your product successfully. But artist such as Devlin, Lowkey. Chipmunk and Tinchy Stryder have made it and we believe in the future he could get signed by a recognised record label and become worldwide. Later on I shall do research into potential record labels that could sign them up.
I compare Crucial to Devlin As I think they have similar style of music and are off the same genre. Crucial will be very marketable as he has the style of an hip-hop artist. He has the look that will appeal to both male and female. I think many young aspiring artists would aspire to be like him, as he has taken the chance to go out and achieve he’s dreams and many people can relate to the lyrics in their songs.
